| I believe that everyone has innate healing wisdom and each person knows what he or she needs. My job is to provide the support which empowers individuals to move toward healing, wellness, and balance in order to reconnect with their bodies. | |||||

What is therapeutic massage, and what can I expect from a massage session?
| Therapeutic Massage is the process of applying various manual (hand) techniques to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and a form of connective tissue called fascia. These techniques include kneading, tapping, compression, vibration, rocking, friction, and the application of controlled pressure. | |||||

Your session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Gentle music and a calming fountain will play softly in the background. Before your session begins, I will ask you a few general health questions and about any medicines you may be taking, to ensure that massage would not cause you any difficulties. We will discuss your desired outcome for the session. Your answers may suggest the areas of your body which would benefit from massage.

A typical massage involves work on the legs, feet arms, neck, head, face, hips, low back, and back. I will leave you alone to disrobe and get on the table. You may decide for yourself what if any clothing you wear based on your level of comfort. You will be properly and respectfully draped at all times for your warmth and security. A light oil will be used during the massage to allow your muscles to be worked without causing excessive friction to the skin. The session begins with broad flowing strokes to warm the tissues and spread the oil. As the massage progresses the work may become deeper and more specific. |
